Dear ___________,
Thank you for writing again. I can understand why some students think there is nothing conditional about Mrs. White's prophecy, because it doesn't say anything about a conditional element. But does this mean that it was not conditional? No, not according to what the Bible indicates about this.
Jonah gives us the clearest example of a conditional prophecy. God sent him with a message: "Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown." But it did not come true, did it? Was it a false prophecy? Not according to the Bible, which clearly teaches that God gave him that message, and it teaches also that God does not lie. But you cannot find anywhere in the Book of Jonah a clear statement that the prophecy was conditional. But even the Ninevites thought it *might* be conditional. See Jonah 3:9. And in fact, it *was* conditional, for when they repented, God did not overthrow the city in 40 days. This is exactly the way Jeremiah 18:7-10 tells us that God will act.
If Jonah's prophecy can be conditional when there is no condition expressed, why cannot Ellen White's?
You may also want to explore this further on our website, where we have an adaptation of F. D. Nichol's analysis of it from his book Ellen G. White and Her Critics. You will find it at this URL:

I hope this is helpful to you. God bless!

Thank you very much for your quick response - this is the info I needed. Something else please...
"I was shown the company present at the conference. Said the angel: Some food for worms, some subjects of the seven last plagues, some will be alive and remain on the earth to be translated at the coming of Jesus." (1 T 131.3)
We have the document 'Testing the Prophet' by Dr. Gerhardt Pfandl, which comments on this statement in the light of conditional prophecy. A few of the students in my class don't agree. They feel there was no conditionality about it. I was asked by the lecturer to research the statement, and I would like to present a good explanation. Could you please help?
Yours in Christ,
___________,
Thank you for contacting the Ellen G. White Estate. You will find a document about this video on our website. The direct URL is http://www.WhiteEst ate.org/issues/video.html.
A more complete response was prepared by Bob Pickle, whose own publishing company makes his response available. He has examined every assertion in the video, more than 200 of them, and offered a response to each one. He has published these in a book, but the distance and the exchange rate may make purchasing the book impractical for you. He has also posted the text of it on his website, http://www.pickle-publishing.co m. Go to his home page and click on the link to "critique."
I think you will get some help from these sources. May the Lord guide you as you work on the project.
