Hi, I would like some information please. I was told by different people that Ellen White wrote that black people were the offspring of sinful white people and monkeys. Also, that she wrote that black people are inferior to white people. Can you please tell me if this was in one of her books or in a manuscript? Thank you. ___________
Thank you for contacting the Ellen G. White Estate. The answer to your question--whether this was in a book by Mrs. White or in a manuscript--is "Neither." She never said or wrote such a thing. You can find a discussion of Mrs. White's "amalgamation" statements on our website: www.WhiteEstate.org/issues/amalg.html.
Regarding your second question, about whether Mrs. White held black people to be inferior to white people, she can speak for herself. Here is one notable statement:
Christ came to this earth with a message of mercy and forgiveness. He laid the foundation for a religion by which Jew and Gentile, black and white, free and bond, are linked together in one common brotherhood, recognized as equal in the sight of God. The Saviour has a boundless love for every human being. In each one He sees capacity for improvement. With divine energy and hope He greets those for whom He has given His life. In His strength they can live a life rich in good works, filled with the power of the Spirit.-- Testimonies, vol. 7, p. 225.
You can find this one along with many other similar statements in Selected Messages, book 2, appendix 3, "The Brotherhood of Mankind." It is on pp. 485-488.
I hope this will be helpful to you. Let me know if I can be of further service. Thank you for writing, and God bless!
