Howdy Folks! In our study group a question came up about a person that commits adultery then remarries then leaves that new person and wants to return to the original marriage partner. One of the member of our group is sure he read it is in the spirit of prophecy somewhere, but he does not know where. I have searched as much as I can in my CD and cannot find anything where Mrs. White address this particular situation. Can you folks give us a helping hand on where she comments on this situation? If can I would appreciate it if you would e-mail the reference, my address is ___________
Thank you for contacting the Ellen G. White Estate. Matters like this, if they are dealt with at all in Mrs. White's writings, are likely to appear in the 1989 compilation Testimonies on Sexual Behavior, Adultery, and Divorce. The book has no index (at least, the copy I have does not), and I did not find a situation which corresponded to the one you have described. This is not the same as assuring you that there *is* no such treatment in Mrs. White's writings. I am only saying that I did not find it. I did find material on the question of whether a divorced and remarried person was under obligation to forsake the second spouse and return to the first (the answer in brief: no). But I did not find something relating to a situation in which the second marriage has already broken up and the person desires to return to the first spouse.
Sorry I cannot help you further. Thank you for writing, and God bless!
