Walla Walla General Hospital (Walla Walla, Washington, US)

A 72-bed institution in Walla Walla Washington, owned by Adventist Health System/West. It has a staff of 85 physicians and employs more than 115 registered nurses and approximately 10 licensed practical nurses. The hospital cooperates with Walla Walla College in the preparation of nurses at the B.S. level and with the Walla Walla Community College in preparing associate degree nurses and practical nurses. Medical work in the area began in 1899 when Isaac A. Dunlap, M.D., and his wife, a trained nurse, opened treatment rooms at Walla Walla College. In 1903 they built a small sanitarium, operating it in connection with the college, and offering a one-year nurse’s training course for seven years. During this time 34 nurses received diplomas.
