Washington Adventist Hospital (Takoma Park, Maryland, US)

A nonprofit voluntary hospital situated in Takoma Park, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, D.C. It was founded in 1907 and until 1958 was operated by the General Conference, since then by the Columbia Union Conference. Functionally, it is a general acute hospital with a bed capacity of 300, providing medical, surgical, maternity, psychiatric, and outpatient services. Patients are admitted by private physicians approved by the board on an open medical staff basis. There are nearly 1,600 employees. The institution is approved by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals and by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association.
