Sylvester Graham

(1794-1851). Presbyterian minister, health reformer, and lecturer on temperance and dietetics who advocated vegetarian diet and introduced into general use graham bread, made of coarse wheat flour. He studied at Amherst College and was ordained to the ministry in the Presbyterian Church. Ellen White made references to his bread and whole-wheat flour in her works. See Health Principles.
