A term used variously in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Most often the word, when used alone, refers to the unit of church administration called a local conference , in which a number of local churches are associated for administrative purposes ( see Conference, [local] ); it is also used for the area in which this organization operates. The term conference is used similarly of the union conference (or union), comprising several local conferences; also of the General Conference, comprising all the union organizations, and of its quinquennial session.
