Seal of God

A brief form for “seal of the living God” in Rev. 7:2 . In vision John saw this seal affixed to the foreheads of 144,000 of “the servants of our God,” 12,000 from each of “the tribes of the children of Israel.” An angel “ascending from the east” with the seal calls upon the “four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, saying, Hurt not the earth . . . till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.” In Rev. 14:1–5 the 144,000 are said to have “the Father’s name written in their foreheads”; evidently the seal of God contains the name of God.
